In the game, there is three main charactes in the story mode. Throughout the campaigne of the game, you are allowed to switch to one of those characters when you want to and complete missions for every indivudal chaaracter.

The three characters are

Franklin, he is the dark skin charater from the hood who later on earns millions of dollars throught the story

Trever, is a red neck who lives in a trailer who then gets millions of dollars thoughou the mission

Michele is a white wealthy bussniess man
